Other: As a great Clan Leader once said... "fnord!"
My original intent for this skin was to have a guy that actually
LOOKS like Cpl. Dwayne Hicks, from the excellent motion picture ALIENS. First, I
took the Major's skin and slapped on a pic of Michael Biehn, the actor who
portrays Cpl. Hicks. I quickly discovered that this looked rather stupid.
I then decided that i would make a Kyle Reese skin instead, since he's
practically Cpl. Hicks- I mean come on, the guy's a dead ringer for him... :)
After drawing in a new face and haircut, I looked again at this skin. I noticed
that this one looked pretty stupid, too. Also, I then realized that attempting
to draw a realistic trenchcoat onto the Quake II Marine's thick armor would look
really stupid. In despair, I gave up for the night. The next night, I again
attempted to recreate the elusive Dwayne. I found another picture of Biehn,
this one sans helmet (yes, I realize it was stupid of me to try to make a skin
with a helmet on it, since the Quake II models don't have hemlets on them). I
pasted this picture onto the skin, and re-colored the major's armor- it now
*remotely* resembles a Colonial Marine's body armor. I drew in more stubble
and shadow, to match the picture of Biehn. I then tested the skin in quake.
To my utter delight, Quake II made Hicks' face stone white, stretched his
hairline back to his spine, and gave him a beautiful 2-inch black beard. It
was around this time that I realized that Quake II is a mean-spirited jerk.
I also noticed Quake II distorts the skins quite radically when applying them
to the models. I went back to the drawing board (well, more of a window, really)
and proceeded to re-color the face, draw in more hair, and re-color the armor
again. I also drew in a couple more things, such as a wristwatch, locator
beacon, and USCM tattoo (yeah, Hicks has one, I saw it in the photo) The end
result of this foolishness is what you see before you. Before you ask, Yes,
this skin looks kinda silly, and Yes, I realize that it dosen't really look
like Hicks when applied to the model, but it's really made from a photo of
Biehn so cut me some slack, okay? :) Go ahead and make a better one if you
like, I'd really love to see a *good* Hicks skin sometime. :)
DISCLAIMER: Skin authors MAY use this skin as a base for other skins.
Hollywood producer types, if you're reading this, I think you should consider
giving Michael Biehn a starring role in your next film. The man's an excellent
actor. Don't believe me? Watch The Terminator.
If you distribute this skin, please include this file.
This skin MAY NOT be included in any CD-ROM or other product whose sales earn
profit for their publishers- *UNLESS* the publishers are either iD Software
OR 20th Century FOX
Oh yeah, ALIENS and ALIENS related characters are (C) 20th
Century FOX (or whatever they're called)
I guess Michael Biehn can do whatever he wants with this skin.
